## pyre volume reclaim

Show or set whether freed space is handed back; trim a file volume now

### Synopsis

A Pyre volume is a block device in 4 MiB blocks. Deleting files frees
nothing by itself: a block leaves the store only when a discard (TRIM,
UNMAP) says all of it is free. With reclaim on (the default) an iSCSI
volume's target advertises UNMAP and the computer that mounted the disk
trims it (fstrim in a Linux guest, Optimize-Volume -ReTrim on Windows,
discard=on on a Proxmox disk); an SMB/NFS volume's appliance trims its
own filesystem on every delete, and --now trims it at once.

Space comes back on the hub's schedule: the current size after the next
upload, the stored total when history lets the old versions go. The
limits (4 MiB units, the stacks that pass discards) print with the
setting.

```
pyre volume reclaim <volume> [flags]
```

  pyre volume reclaim files --now
  pyre volume reclaim vmdisks --off
```
